Acne can be an inflammatory skin condition that affects up to 85 percent of people in one way or other.

The symptoms include pimples that can be frustrating and hard to get rid of.

Conventional treatments can be employed to get rid of pimples. But, they usually result in dryness and irritation to the skin.

As such, many people have turned to natural remedies to get rid of pimples quickly. Although there are many natural remedies to acne, only a few are scientifically proven to be effective.

What exactly are pimples? And how can they be treated?

It is essential to understand the causes of skin conditions before you can effectively treat it. Let's look at some information about pimples.

What exactly is a pimple?

A pimple is an obstruction of the pores that is resulted from dead skin cells or oils (called sebum), from nearby glands. Pimples are small, red bumps that form when pores become blocked. Clogged pores can also turn into blackheads (clogged open pores) and whiteheads (clogged closed pores) or, even more notably, inflamed pus-filled bumps called pustules and hard and painful cysts.

What causes acne?

There are many things that contribute to pimples. A lot of these causes are due to hormonal changes. The hormonal changes that happen during puberty, and for women, menopause and pregnancy can lead to too much oil production and/or loss of skin cells. Let's not forget about the monthly period. This, combined with changes in hormones, can cause normal skin bacteria taking over the pore. The influx of bacteria causes irritation to the skin and causes inflammation. pimples even more.

There are a variety of possible solutions:

  • Using the body wash with benzoyl peroxide. The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recommend applying the body wash to the back or chest for 2-5 minutes before rinsing. For sensitive skin using a solution that contains 5.3 percent benzoyl oxide can be used. If your skin is oily, you may need to use a 10 percent solution.
  • Applying 0.1 percent of adapalene gel to any skin lesions. The gel can also be bought from a pharmacy. You can purchase a device that allows you to apply the gel to someone with difficulties reaching their back.
  • Changing clothing immediately following exercise to minimize sweat and oil buildup. If an individual cannot shower immediately after exercising, wiping the skin using a cleansing wipe or flannel may aid.
  • Refraining from scratching or picking pimples. Picking at pimples can make them worse and increase the risk of developing more serious symptoms.
  • When in the sunlight, use oil-free sunblocks. Sometimes manufacturers call oil-free products non-comedogenic. Using these can help keep oil from accumulating on the skin.
  • Always using products that are fragrance-free and free of oil. Avoiding oils and scents on areas that are prone to acne on the body can reduce the likelihood for body acne breakouts.
