Holden, a native of Sudbury, Massachusetts, joined the Terps as the fifth best graduate transfer in the country, according to Inside Lacrosse. Holden’s mother, Amanda, didn’t grow up with lacrosse. She attended the University of Nebraska and took her son to Husker football games as a child. But she long understood the tradition of Maryland’s program because she adopted the sport to pursue her son’s career, drive him to drills and tournaments, and build a homemade net so he could shoot in the back yard. Holden’s mother told her son that his younger self would have been thrilled to have a chance to play for this program.
