Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has been accused of having teammate Vinicius Jr. in the tunnel at halftime in the Spanish team’s last Champions League tie on Tuesday in Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Real rallied from 2-0 in Germany to score a draw thanks to late goals from veteran Benzema and Brazilian midfielder Casemiro.
That saved Zinedine Zidane’s men from another embarrassing night in the Champions League after suffering 3-2 defeat to Ukrainian Shakhtar Donetsk in Spain last week.

A similar disaster was averted in Germany on Tuesday, but the cameras seemed to pick up a hint of the frustrations at Los Blancos camp when Benzema was heard talking to French teammate Ferland Mendy at halftime.
According to French television broadcaster Telefoot, Benzema attacked Brazilian winger Vinicius and even ordered Mendy not to hand over to him.
“He does what he wants,” Benzema is said to have said in French, without mentioning Vinicius – who was standing nearby – by name during the conversation.
“Don’t play with him, brother. He’s playing against us. ”

Benzema and Mendy spoke to Vinicius when the team returned to the field in the second half.
At that point, Real had failed 1-0 in the 35th minute thanks to Marcus Thuram’s opener, and the 23-year-old striker, the son of French World Cup winner Lilian Thuram, doubled the hosts’ lead with another goal in 58 minutes.
Real bounced back late when Benzema scored in the 87th minute before Casemiro scored a point in the third minute of added time.
Vinicius Jr., 20, had to play for 20 minutes and was replaced by Belgian winger Eden Hazard.
It should be noted that despite alleged advice from Benzema, Mendy passed the ball on to his Brazilian teammate three times after the break.
