How Maryland lacrosse’s Lizzie Colson recovered from a torn ACL

When Colson began to wait a long time for this opportunity, she knew what to expect from physical recovery. She is one of five children, and all four sisters have played college lacrosse. Colson was the third to tear up her ACL, and her mother joked, “I’d rather be master of something else.” (Beanie, the youngest of the daughters and the only one to have escaped serious knee problems, is a senior midfielder at Mount St. Mary’s. Her team also starts the NCAA tournament in Durham and faces the seventh Duke Die a few hours before Maryland’s game Teams would meet in round two if they both won.) Despite the family’s experience with torn ACLs, the mental strain from the injury came as a surprise to Colson.
