Marvin Vettori survives sickening low blow seconds after start to beat Kevin Holland at UFC Vegas 23 (VIDEO) — RT Sport News

Marvin Vettori had to sit down on the edge of the cage after kicking his sensitive spots in the first minute of his competition with Kevin Holland at UFC Vegas 23 – and then recovering to win unanimously.

The Italian’s gritty, convincing victory was made all the more admirable when, within seconds of the start of the bout, he intercepted a nasty shot across the cage before resuming the action.

Vettori retaliated by taking his fifth straight win and increasingly knocking Holland down as his opponent suffered their second defeat in a month.

“Holland show a lot of kicks and one is expertly put on the balls,” said one spectator after watching the scrap metal opening stages.

“I think the production teams just muted the octagon microphones to censor a stream of Italian profanity from Vettori.”

Another remarked, “There are low strokes and then there are these – Kevin Holland cuts off circulation to Vettori’s balls.”

Veteran Derek Brunson, who beat Holland in Vegas last March, claimed he gave Vettori a “blueprint” by showing the way to outsmart “Trailblazer”.

The winner was not entirely satisfied with his performance. “I wanted to end this guy and I couldn’t, but it was a dominant win,” he mused.

“I’m not the happiest right now, but I keep winning, I keep making progress and doing it dominantly.”

The middleweight division now wants a title fight with Israel Adesanya, to which he lost in April 2018 through a separate decision.

“I want Adesanya next,” said a determined Vettori. “October, I want to fight him.” I think i deserve it.

“I have the longest winning streak at the moment. I have achieved victories. Dominant performances. I want this title.”

Holland accused Vettori, Brunson and Brendan Allen, who submitted it in 2019, of winning by “hobbling” it.

“I’ll be looking for good sex partners who can help me stop the humping,” he added, preparing for his next fight.
