UPDATED: Los Angeles Police Department officers were involved in a fatal shootout on Saturday afternoon, in which one person died.
According to Officer Rosario Cervantes of the LAPD’s Media Relations Department, the incident occurred at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue at 2:37 p.m. No further details have been announced at this time.
News of the shootings follows a major traffic disruption on Sunset Boulevard. earlier today.

EARLIER: One of Hollywood’s main thoroughfares was closed in both directions on Saturday afternoon after a police shot.
An NBC-TV news chopper was over the scene on Sunset and Fairfax and appeared to show a corpse with blood on the street. The police swarmed with the scene.
The scene also showed a black vehicle in contact with a Los Angeles Police Department vehicle. The LAPD unit had a damaged window on the driver’s side.
LAPD confirmed the shooting but had no details about what happened or possible injuries.
Hollywood is busy today with several demonstrations marking the 106th anniversary of the Armenian genocide.
