#Roommates, just hours after the news that Prince Philip of the royal family passed away at the age of 99, new details regarding his memorial service have emerged – notably the presence of grandson Prince Harry. According to recent reports, Prince Harry will return to the UK to attend Prince Philip’s funeral. However, it will be without Ms. Meghan Markle.
@TodayShow reports that Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth and grandfather of brothers Prince William and Prince Harry, passed away at the age of 99. Many immediately wondered if his grandson Harry would attend. That question has now been answered as it has recently been confirmed that Prince Harry will be there to pay his final respects to his grandfather – despite recent tensions within the royal family.
Prince Harry is expected to follow all COVID-19 protocols required for travel when returning to the UK from the US. His wife, Meghan Markle, will not attend the funeral as she has not received permission from her doctor to travel to her current pregnancy. It was reported that Prince Harry and Prince Philip had a very close relationship even after he and Meghan moved to California as the two would stay in touch via video chats.
According to a press release from Buckingham Palace, Prince Philip’s memorial service will take place on April 17th at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle and will be accompanied by a solemn procession on the castle grounds. His coffin is currently in the private chapel, where it will be kept until his memorial service.
At the request of Queen Elizabeth, the royal family also entered into a two-week royal mourning.
