Savannah Guthrie Reportedly Contributed To Kate McKinnon’s Perfect SNL Impersonation – Here’s How!

If you’ve watched the latest episode of Saturday Night Live, you know that Kate McKinnon just portrayed the Today show’s co-host, Savannah Guthrie, in a sketch designed to parody her town hall interview with Donald Trump. That being said, it sounds like Guthrie really wants the comedian to do a perfect job playing her, so she helped out. Here’s how!

That’s right! Savannah Guthrie made sure Kate McKinnon perfected her portrayal in the Dueling City Hall Cold Open sketch shared last Saturday.

Viewers were genuinely impressed with Kate McKinnon’s imitation of the Today host and didn’t hesitate to praise her as much as they praised Guthrie for the merciless questions she had for the current POTUS.

Now an insider tells E! Uncover some of the behind-the-scenes secrets of how the Today host herself contributed to the perfectly accurate impersonation.

“Usually they had to find or make the suit Savannah wore. They reached for Savannah and asked where it was coming from and she told them they could borrow it. Savannah borrowed her actual suit, so Kate wore it in the sketch. They are exactly the same size! Savannah sent her suit by Friday night and the SNL team was working on the sketch earlier that night. They wanted to make sure everything was going right and they even copied Savannah’s look at her manicure, ”the source revealed.

The sketch was viewed over 5.8 million times on YouTube in less than two days. So it seems like the viewers loved her, and that’s mostly due to Kate’s masterful and funny portrayal of Savannah.

In addition, Carson Daly, one of her current co-hosts, responded as well and said of the sketch, “I mean, Kate McKinnon. That was funny! Precisely. ‘

Her other co-host, Hoda Kotb, added, “Except for the fingernails and the pink suit. I think she did it … she was great. I thought it was great. ‘

As for Guthrie herself, she has yet to give her opinion on the sketch as she had her day off on Monday.
