Walter Reed attending physician slams Trump motorcade photo op:

A non-military attending physician at Walter Reed National Medical Center sharply criticized President Donald Trump’s motorcade photo as something that could endanger the lives of intelligence agents who escorted him in his SUV.

“Every single person in the vehicle during this completely unnecessary drive by the President has to be quarantined for 14 days. You could get sick. You can die. For political theater. Ordered by Trump to put her life in danger for the theater. This is insane, “tweeted Dr. James Phillips.

Phillips has been the attending physician at Walter Reed Medical Center for nearly three years. He is also a state-certified emergency physician and assistant professor at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC

“This President’s SUV is not only bulletproof, but also hermetically sealed against chemical attack. The risk of COVID19 transmission inside is as high as outside of medical procedures. The irresponsibility is amazing. My mind is being forced to gamble with the Secret Service, ”Phillips tweeted.

The White House released a statement tonight stating that “reasonable precautions” have been taken for Trump’s motorcade and that the move has “been approved as safe by the medical team.”

Speaking to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on Sunday evening, Phillips, who had not been involved in looking after the president, said it was unlikely that the president’s motorcade had been approved by medical professionals with no outside political influence.

“This is by no means standard, and I find it hard to believe that these doctors would have resolved this without undue influence based on their chain of command,” he said of the president’s motorcade.

“When we’re caring for patients in the emergency room or in the thousands of hours I’ve spent in the inpatient wards, surgery, medicine, and intensive care unit, we don’t let patients leave the hospital when they’re sick unless you log out against medical advice, “he added. “… The idea that this would be resolved without a medical indication is absurd.”
