‘Where were you, Dana?’ UFC’s Cutelaba grabs rival Jacoby by neck as fans claim faceoffs are spiraling out of hand (VIDEO) — RT Sport News

The UFC light heavyweight showdown between Ion Cutelaba and Dustin Jacoby gets worse after the pair clashed in front of promotion chief Dana White.

Moldovan ‘Hulk’ Cutelaba stomped on stage after weighing himself in at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Friday and shook hands with White before staring at Jacoby – who was standing with clenched fists.

Unprovoked, Cutelaba grabbed his rival by the neck, pulled him to her and shouted “You are my bonus” before the couple was forcibly separated by the security staff.

The scene took place in front of a terrified white man who criticized UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby just last week for failing to intervene and stop the confrontation that forced Drakkar Klose out of his fight with Jeremy Stephens after the American pushed his opponent caused concussions and a sprain of the cervix.

“Come on,” White was heard saying after Cutelaba’s antics on Friday. “I just beat up Sean before I got in here.”

An angry Jacoby yelled at Cutelaba, “There’s no damn way I can beat me tomorrow,” as the two were led away from each other.

Fans, campaigners and experts criticized the scenes as out of control.

“There’s a fight to sell, and then there’s a line you just don’t cross …” wrote Megan Anderson, women’s featherweight.

“This is madness. Especially after what happened to Klose. Commissions need to stop this nonsense. Look at how he grabs his neck, ”complained ESPN expert Ariel Helwani.

Others pointed a finger at White because he wasn’t quick enough to intervene – especially after reprimanding Shelby for the same failure last week.

He wanted lips to lips to show face to face. Joking aside, Cutelaba needs to be spoken to too. He always deals with antics.

The 27-year-old Cutelaba faces UFC Apex on Saturday with a string of consecutive losses after losing twice to Russian Magomed Ankalaev last year.

After making his PhD debut in 2016, he stands at 4-5 overall in the UFC.

Cutelaba is known for his Faceoff antics, which he previously painted green in reference to his nickname “Hulk” and which has also gone viral for yelling in the face of Khalil Rountree before their fight in September 2019 – which was ultimately the last time that Cutelaba tasted the victory in the octagon.

The 33-year-old Jacoby has taken four wins and set a 14-5 record, including two stints in the UFC.

He must have added the motivation to get Cutelaba to pay the price in the octagon on Saturday evening after the weighing theaters of the Moldau.
