One might question the logic behind trying to hit someone with an NFL helmet, but that’s exactly what happened to the New Orleans Saints’ Chauncey Gardner-Johnson during Sunday’s hot game with the Chicago Bears.
Wims received his marching orders after approaching Saints defender Gardner-Johnson from behind after a failed game and appearing to pull a chain around his neck before delivering a right-handed blow to his rival – which landed on his helmet.

Gardner-Johnson did not respond to the first strike and might be waiting for a referee to intervene, but Wims soon followed with a second, resulting in a hand-to-hand combat between several members of both teams.
It wasn’t immediately clear what caused Wims, a third year professional from the University of Georgia, to throw at least two punches at Gardner-Johnson, but the umpires ruled that Wims’ participation in the game was over and he was now ahead There’s a nervous wait around the door to see if the NFL will give him further sanctions.
The very next game, Bears quarterback Nick Foles threw off the Saints star cornerback Marshon Lattimore, resulting in a drive that resulted in the Saints taking the lead in the third quarter.
The Saints had the last laugh and won the game with an overtime goal to win the game 26-23 as they improved their record for the season to 5-2, but many fans continued to focus on the brawl on the field, which seemed to tip the momentum in favor of the saints.

I never understood why soccer players hit a helmet. Could be the stupidest thing ever

If you have someone wearing a helmet, wouldn’t that make you a fool?

Oddly, this is not the first such incident in New Orleans this season. Saints’ star-wide recipient Michael Thomas was not picked for a game recently by head coach Sean Payton.
The reason? He got involved in a training field with a teammate. The player he beat? Chauncey Gardner-Johnson.
